In late 2019, Signature Tracks continued to grow their imprint exponentially with their strategic partnership with Downtown Music Publishing, one of the foremost independent music publishers in the world. They've kicked off 2021 with notable Netflix Top 10 Series and Films like "Bling Empire", "Midnight at the Magnolia" and the trailer for "Sightless."

RUSSELL HOWARD

CO-FOUNDER

As co-founder and head composer of Signature Tracks, Russell Howard has produced themes and scores for Dish Nation, Duck Dynasty, Guiliana & Bill, The Price Is Right, Vanderpump Rules, and many others. Russell won the 2017 and 2019 Ascap Award for Most Performed Themes and Underscore which is given to the composer who has the most placements on television and film.

Russell started producing music when he was 12 years old. Years later, after he’d honed his craft, he was signed to Sony to produce Kobe Bryant’s album, which included a song with Destiny’s Child starring Beyoncé and a single with Tyra Banks. While Russell was producing the album, Jay-Z stopped by the studio and listened to Russell’s music. On the spot, Jay-Z decided that he wanted to buy two tracks – S. Carter and There’s Been a Murder – that later featured on his album Vol. 3 Life and Times of S. Carter, making Russell a Grammy-nominated producer.

With that success, Russell signed a deal with Babyface Edmonds’ label as an in-house producer. He then produced for DMX, Lupe Fiasco, Paris Hilton, Paul Wall and Seal.

After collaborating with his childhood friends, David Lasman and Adam Malka, Russell realized there is a need for quality music in television, and he decided to start Signature Tracks with them in 2008.

Before Adam founded Signature Tracks in 2008, he was co-writing and co-producing for the multiplatinum American rock band Trapt, known for their No. 1 single Headstrong. He then spent time in the studio co-writing and co-producing I Wish for Grammy Award-winning artist Seal. Shortly after that, Adam started Signature Tracks with childhood friends David Lasman and Russell Howard.
Adam thought his experience producing for successful rock and pop artists would translate well to creating current sounds for TV programs. The industry agreed, and Adam went on to compose for more than 500 TV series and commercials.
Adam’s experience working closely with executives, showrunners and editors, earned him his first music supervisor title for the CW series Hitched or Ditched. Since then, he’s been music supervisor for more than 30 series, providing Signature Tracks clients with round-the-clock support

Adam’s experience includes:

  • Sitting in the editing bays picking spot-on cues.

  • Replacing existing music to elevate the tone of a series.

  • Dealing with network notes.

  • Licensing songs from artists worldwide.

​

Adam’s goal is to bring the highest quality music to picture, raising the emotional impact and production value of each project.

DAVID LASMAN

CO-FOUNDER

David Lasman started in TV as a production assistant in 2006 and worked his way up to co-executive producer. While sitting in editing bays listening to countless boring loops and tragic displays of so-called music, he decided to stop giving music notes and start creating a music company.

​

Understanding that music is an essential part of telling a compelling story, David teamed with Grammy-nominated producer Russell Howard, who had just came off Jay-Z’s Vol. 3…The Life and Times of S. Carter album, and Adam Malka, who was producing for Trapt, a band that topped rock Billboard charts, to form Signature Tracks. The idea was to bring a current, cutting-edge sound to TV.

 

David's more than 20,000 hours in editing bays helped shape how Signature Tracks composes and organizes its collection. His goal is to offer modern music that is easy for TV editors to access.
